Needle boxes are closed on one side. They are thus well suited to the conclusion of bearings on shaft ends. This provides protection against accidents when the shaft rotates and the bearings are protected against dirt and moisture.

The soil is size-dependent smooth or swollen (stiffened). Due to the profiled bottom and low axial guiding forces are possible.
